UNC World View is excited to partner with Central Carolina Community College and Bharat Forge America, Inc. to host its third Global Business Summit program via zoom from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. With a focus on the skill sets and traits required to meet the needs of the global workforce, this virtual program will provide community college educators with knowledge on India and the evolving nature of a global company, as well as how best to prepare students to meet the needs of the global workforce.

In 2019, Governor Roy Cooper announced that Bharat Forge America, Inc. will build an aluminum forging plant to manufacture automobile components in Lee County, creating 460 jobs over the next five years. The North Carolina Department of Commerce carefully considered the requirements Bharat Forge Aluminum USA, Inc. set forth, including existing education and workforce pools, solid infrastructure, proximity to a city and airport, and generous accommodation of local government processes. This attention and care paid off when Bharat Forge chose Sanford, North Carolina to be the site of the new plant, resulting in investments of $127.3 million and the opportunity for a unique partnership with Central Carolina Community College.

Bharat Forge America, Inc. has successfully integrated into its new community. According to Courtney Holcomb, Human Resource Manager for Bharat Forge Aluminum USA, Inc. the company is committed to initiatives in areas such as education, environment, infrastructure and community, along with charitable institutes engaged in education and in uplifting quality of lives for those who reside in the county. Earlier this month, Bharat Forge America, Inc. hosted a successful back-to-school supply drive for Lee County Schools. These are small gestures but speak to the importance the company places on their workers and their community.

As North Carolina community colleges implement new practices and strategies to assist students, we expect this virtual program to offer valuable perspectives to community college educators in their efforts to support a stronger and more resilient global workforce.
