A Global Education Success Story from Buncombe County:

Global Education is about awareness, understanding, and making the world a more beautiful place. Students at Glen Arden Elementary, near Asheville, certainly know how to do that! When in-person instruction closed due to Covid-19, the school librarian Lee Ann Smith developed engaging theme-based online lessons that she sent out to all 550 students each week. During Earth Day week these K-4 students learned about why it’s important to take care of our planet. Students received a virtual lesson appropriate to their grade level, and the entire student body was invited to demonstrate their awareness and activities by posting pictures and messages about their sustainability efforts to a Padlet.

Here’s a link to the 2nd grade lesson. We hope you’ll join our local, and global, efforts to make Planet Earth even more beautiful!
