“Understanding the world around us is critical to our success as a state and nation.
Opportunities for educators to better understand our global connections and delivering
that knowledge to our students is powerful.”
Elaine Marshall, NC Secretary of State

The State of North Carolina has a bilateral partnership with the Republic of Moldova. The official North Carolina-Moldova Bilateral Partnership was formalized in 1999 and has since evolved into a partnership that includes the efforts of many individuals and organizations, including private firms, civic clubs and non-profit entities. This unique relationship between North Carolina and Moldova was built upon cultural, academic and scientific exchanges, as well as governmental cooperation and humanitarian efforts. The North Carolina Secretary of State’s Office encourages North Carolina educators to learn more about these relationships with Moldova. World View is honored to extend this partnership with Moldova by working in collaboration with the North Carolina Secretary of State’s Office and the Academy for Innovation and Change through Education. World View’s unique global study visit program to Moldova will take a select team of  North Carolina educators to Moldova in June 2019 to engage in discussions, workshops and team teaching with Moldovan educators. As part of the program, a pre-departure orientation and workshop will include a “global is local” focus on the relationship between North Carolina and Moldova. The team will engage with on-going web-based learning opportunities and resources to deepen their knowledge of the issues, history and culture of Moldova. Upon return from Moldova, the global study visit participants will take part in a post study visit workshop to reflect and develop a plan of action for integrating the experience into their classrooms and schools.

This global study visit experience will enable the team of educators to

• Develop global competencies as they investigate global issues, recognize perspectives and communicate across cultures.
• Increase their own confidence and capacity for introducing global issues and supporting global education initiatives.
• Exercise collaboration and leadership skills.
• Increase their understanding of culture, language and daily life in Moldova.
• Gain knowledge of Moldova’s educational systems.
• Explore selected cultural and historical sites in Moldova.
• Increase their knowledge and understanding of the relationship between North Carolina and Moldova, as well as explore the perspectives and challenges faced by Moldovan and other Eastern European students living in North Carolina.
