Now that the new school year is well underway, are you looking for an outlet for your students’ creativity? Or are you looking for enrichment opportunities?

Elementary school, middle school and high school teams and/or individual students are invited to participate in a creative endeavor: designing inventions and solving real-world problems with their favorite fictional characters.

The purpose of Novel Inventions is to promote critical and creative thinking in a positive virtual environment that brings teams from several schools and classrooms together for friendly collaboration and competition. Students will read two books of their choosing and complete one to three challenges, one of which includes characters from selected novels solving global challenges!

Please visit the website for specifics about the challenges, directions for submitting entries, registration, book recommendations and additional guidelines. Participating schools will have access to a tip of the week that involves ways to promote creative and critical thinking in the classroom.

The deadline to register is October 30, 2018. There is no registration fee. The deadline to submit entries is April 30, 2019.
