The Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies is offering travel grants for NC educators to attend the annual fall meeting of the Southeast Regional Middle East & Islamic Studies Seminar (SERMEISS), October 19-21, 2018 at the Valle Crucis Conference Center in Banner Elk, NC.

SERMEISS is a professional society for faculty from various fields whose common connection is the study or teaching of some aspect of the Middle East or Muslim World. The fall meeting involves academic professional development to deepen knowledge of Mideast and Islamic Studies in beautiful western NC! This grant is open to secondary education and community college instructors in North Carolina. All awards are a fixed $200, intended as a stipend for travel costs and registration. This is an inexpensive conference, and $200 will cover most expenses.
