The James L. Peacock Scholarship

Dr. James Peacock

World View is committed to ensuring accessibility to our programs for all North Carolina K-12 and community college educators. We are pleased to provide an annual scholarship for a select educator to attend a World View March seminar of their choice in honor of former World View Advisory Board Chair, Dr. James L. Peacock

Peacock is the Kenan Distinguished Professor of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received a B.A. from Duke University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has received various grants and awards including the Thomas Jefferson award at UNC, the Franz Boas award of the American Anthropological Association, the Citizen of the World by the International Affairs Council, the Massey Award for Service and the Johnson Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has served as chair of the UNC faculty, chair of the Department of Anthropology and director of the UNC Center for International Studies.  Dr. Peacock was instrumental in the founding of World View and helped World View fulfill our mission for over 15 years. The scholarship is offered in appreciation for his commitment to global education.
