The Sustainable Development Goals for a Better World

About the Project: In 2015, 193 countries adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework of objectives for achieving sustainable development, including economic development, social inclusion and environmental sustainability. World leaders proposed this call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, combat inequalities, and to promote peace and for prosperity for all.

The SDGs provide a framework, not only as a course of action to better the world, but for educators to introduce and integrate global themes in classrooms by learning about global issues and their solutions that impact communities across the globe.

The 2022-2023 UNC World View Fellows gained a deeper understanding of the SDGs, the goals’ interdependence, and the need for integrated solutions. Fellows developed curriculum that further integrate global issues into the classroom. The lessons presented on this website were developed as part of the 2022-2023 UNC World View Fellows Program, The Sustainable Development Goals for a Better World.

Funding was received by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the UNC Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs and the UNC Office of the Provost in support of this program.
