CELEBRATING WORLD WETLANDS DAY 2022

On February 2nd, join UNC World View in celebrating World Wetlands Day. This day marks the critical role wetlands play around the world, and this year’s theme “Wetlands Action for People and Nature,” aims to motivate individuals, businesses, and governments to “invest financial, human and political capital to save the world’s wetlands from disappearing and to restore those we have degraded.”

WHAT’S UNC WORLD VIEW READING? TEN LESSONS FOR A POST-PANDEMIC WORLD BY FAREED ZAKARIA

This winter, a few of the UNC World View staff members are reading Ten Lessons for a Post-Pandemic World. The book, written by journalist Fareed Zakaria and published in October of 2020, evaluates and compares systems of government, economic challenges and successes, and health outcomes across the globe in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

BUILDING A NEW FUTURE: RENAMING CELEBRATES HENRY OWL, UNC’S FIRST AMERICAN INDIAN STUDENT

We are excited to share that the Student Affairs Building, which houses UNC World View, has been renamed in honor of Henry Owl, a Cherokee historian, educator, activist, soldier, and “the first American Indian and the first person of color to enroll in the university.”
